The spinning top must help Vanya get safely to Nizhny Novgorod — his father's faithful friend is waiting for him there. But the whole event is bursting at the seams from the very beginning: the visionary, aristocrat, aesthete Vanya and the uncouth, gloomy man Top can barely stand each other from the very beginning.
